Weight ISsues
As if we didn't have enough to worry
about, we're fat, too.
Women with PCOS are prone to
unexplained, uncontrollable, and
unwanted weight gain, especially
around the trunk of the body. We
tend to have more apple shaped
bodies as opposed to the standard
pear shape.
Once again, due to the excessive androgens (male hormones)
in our bodies, we tend to gain weight like men do. In our
stomaches and rear ends instead of our hips and thighs. It's a
good old fashioned case of "beer belly".
This may sound like common sense, but diet and exercise will
be your most powerful tools to fight this bulge. Most women
with PCOS find mild to moderate success with a balanced diet
that limits sugar and carb intake, but ALWAYS check with
your doctor before starting any diet or exercise
programs.
